Dancing from a Young Age in Australia
Born in the small country town of Wagga Wagga, Australia, Sharna was immersed in dance at an early age. Both her parents competed professionally in ballroom dancing, so she would often watch them rehearse and perform. Sharna began formal dance lessons at age 5 and was trained in ballet, tap, jazz and acrobatics. She showed a natural aptitude for movement and performance. By age 11, inspired by her parents, she began focusing on ballroom dancing and partnering. Her competitive drive led her to win several regional and national ballroom dance championships as a youth in Australia.
