Early Life and Dance Training
Born on June 20, 2001 in Pittsburgh, PA, Nia Frazier began her dance training at the renowned Abby Lee Dance Company at just 3 years old. Under the tutelage of studio director Abby Lee Miller, Nia excelled in lyrical, contemporary, jazz, musical theatre and acro styles even as a preschooler. Her raw talent, flexibility and stage presence were evident from the start.
Rising to Fame on Dance Moms
Nia gained national recognition in 2011 when she and her mother Holly were cast on Lifetime‘s hit reality show Dance Moms. The series followed the young dancers of the Abby Lee Dance Company and their devoted moms in the high-stakes world of competitive dance.
During 7 drama-filled seasons on the show, Nia emerged as one of the stand-out stars. Fans were amazed by her grace and maturity on stage, even when performing complex routines like her iconic "Goodbye Maya" lyrical solo. Nia also demonstrated incredible versatility through her musical theater and African-inspired numbers that allowed her bubbly personality to shine.
While Abby Lee‘s harsh teaching methods often caused conflicts, Nia maintained a positive spirit and determination to succeed. She became known for her sassy comebacks and refusal to back down in dance battles with rivals like Chloe and Maddie. Through it all, she exemplified both talent and resilience.
